David Bernstein, a descendant of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob according to the flesh, was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1946. David attended Hebrew School from age 8 to 13 when he became a Bar Mitzvah (Son of the Commandments). David attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14. After graduation from Adelphi University in 1968, he served in various ways and locations for 26 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. David retired as a Captain (0-6) in 1994.
David met the love of his life, Aurora in 1987. In 1988, after hearing a clear presentation of the gospel, David confessed his sin, repented and was saved from the wrath of God, surrendering his life to Christ. David and Aurora were married in 1989. They have been studying, serving, teaching and counseling since 1991. Together they have studied at Knox Seminary and taken and taught master’s level training courses in counseling from the Bible. David has been on mission trips to Israel and Cuba and tries not to miss an opportunity to engage in gospel conversations. David was licensed to preach by an SBC-affiliated church in 2008 and was ordained a pastor/elder at DRBC in 2017.
David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Adelphi and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the George Washington University. He loves to share the things he enjoys with others and is a retired Motorcycle Safety Instructor, a retired SCUBA Diving Instructor and an active Bible teacher, from the pulpit, in small groups and in one-on-one discipleship in order to prepare God’s people for the work of the ministry.
David and Aurora have two lovely married daughters, Nicole and Gina, who are devoted to Christ and to their husbands. And…one lovely, godly granddaughter, Tahlia. David has had the blessing of baptizing and, years later, officiating over the weddings of both Nicole and Gina.
David and Aurora came to the St. George area in 2013 and enjoy observing and getting out into the beauty of God’s breathtaking handiwork in this area. They like to swim, dive, travel, exercise, shoot pool, study God’s word and lead small groups together.
